I totally agree with you, my friend! “All the Light We Cannot See” is one of the best books I’ve read in recent years too. I was super worried that Netflix would mess up the adaptation, but after watching all four episodes, I gotta say they nailed it! The cast was amazing, especially Louis Hoffmann and Aria Loberti. And with the support of Mark Ruffalo and Hugh Laurie, it was a total treat to watch. Right from the start, you could feel the high-budget production with all those stunning details, incredible costumes, and props. Netflix does churn out some garbage sometimes, but when they get it right, it’s truly compelling. So glad they did justice to this beautiful book!
I totally get where you’re coming from, buddy! I’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 too. It was definitely enjoyable and kept me engaged throughout the four-part series. The story about the blind French girl, the German soldier/radio operator, and the French resistance during WW2 in occupied St Malo was pretty interesting. The cast was good, and Hugh Laurie was, as always, excellent. But I have to agree, Mark Ruffalo’s casting seemed a bit off, and those accents were a little strange, right? Overall, the cinematography, pacing, and dialogue were on point, making it a well-rounded watch, even if it didn’t stand out too much. I do wish it had more of a European vibe, considering the subject matter, though. But hey, it’s definitely not the worst thing Netflix has put out, right? 😄
